Apple is preparing to showcase its long-awaited Siri overhaul in the second half of February, with iOS 26.4 beta expected to launch as early as next month. The upgraded assistant will be powered by Google Gemini models running on Apple's Private Cloud Compute servers, marking the first public demonstration of features promised nearly two years ago.

Apple Finally Ready to Show Off Smarter Siri

Apple is set to unveil its long-promised Siri overhaul in late February, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The demonstration will mark the first public showcase of features Apple originally announced at its 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference, nearly two years after the initial reveal.

A Billion-Dollar Partnership With Google

The upgraded assistant will run on Google's Gemini technology through Apple's Private Cloud Compute servers. Apple and Google announced their multi-year partnership on January twelfth, with Apple stating that Google's AI technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models.

The deal is reportedly worth around one billion dollars annually, though analysts estimate the total value could reach five billion dollars over time. The new system operates at approximately one point two trillion parameters, a dramatic leap from Apple's previous one hundred and fifty billion parameter models.

What Users Can Expect

When iOS 26.4 reaches public release in March or April, users with an iPhone 15 Pro or newer can expect several key enhancements. These include improved on-screen awareness allowing Siri to understand and act on visible content, deeper personal context that draws from emails and messages across apps, and the ability to execute multi-step tasks within third-party applications.

Apple has emphasised that despite using Gemini technology, user data will remain protected through Private Cloud Compute, meaning Google will not receive user information directly.

More to Come This Autumn

This spring update represents only the first phase of Apple's AI ambitions. A more advanced chatbot version of Siri, codenamed Campos, is planned for iOS 27 this autumn. That iteration will transform Siri into a full conversational AI designed to compete directly with OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini assistant.
