Founded in 2023, Skild AI is developing what it calls an omni-bodied foundation model, essentially a general-purpose robotic software platform that can be retrofitted to various robots and tasks without requiring extensive additional training. This approach contrasts sharply with traditional robotics, where each robot typically requires custom programming for specific tasks.

The company's flagship technology, known as the Skild Brain, aims to provide robots with the ability to adapt to different physical forms and perform diverse functions using a single underlying intelligence system. This mirrors the revolution that large language models have brought to text processing, but applied to the physical world of robotics.

Remarkable Growth Trajectory

The startup's valuation growth has been extraordinary. In summer 2025, Skild AI raised funding at a $4.5 billion valuation. Just seven months later, that figure has jumped to over $14 billion, representing more than a threefold increase. This rapid appreciation reflects both the company's technological progress and growing investor confidence in the robotics AI sector.

Skild AI has demonstrated significant commercial traction despite its youth. The company reached approximately $30 million in revenue within months in 2025 and is currently deploying systems for security patrols, warehouse operations, and manufacturing facilities. Strategic Investment Coalition

The composition of Skild AI's investor base reveals the strategic importance of its technology across multiple sectors. SoftBank Group, known for its ambitious technology investments, led the round. Just as large language models can be fine-tuned for various text-based tasks, Skild's technology aims to provide a base intelligence that can be adapted to different robotic platforms and use cases. Traditional robotics development requires extensive custom engineering for each specific application.
